Education

Access to primary education, particularly for girls has been a key area for the Small Grants and Ambassador’s Fund. There has been an emphasis on both improving the quality of education as well as strengthening the infrastructure. This has been achieved through literacy programs and enhanced teaching methodologies for teachers as well as rehabilitation of school infrastructure, provision of furniture, equipment and books. Preference was given to approaches that enhance reading skills, increase opportunities for girls, or focus on children with special learning needs. The grants also promote equitable access to education facilities such as including non-formal accelerated literacy programs for out of school children in the school curriculum.
