Free and fair access to information is regarded as a fundamental human right which strengthens democracies and makes the system more efficient along with sound governance.<\/p>\n
Under USAID Small Grants and Ambassador’s Fund Program, Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE) has been provided financial assistance for undertaking Citizen Voice for Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Punjab project. The project is designed to facilitate the use of Punjab RTI Act, 2013 by supply and demand side stakeholders for accessing sector specific information vis a vis Education, Health and WASH in 05 districts of Punjab by providing infrastructural and technical support to the relevant government departments; building capacity of relevant government officials and civil society members and holding Sector-Specific Consultative Workshops and Seminars.<\/p>\n
It is expected that over 1500 people from government departments, NGOS and communities would have better understanding and capacities regarding the law on the use of Punjab Right to Information Act, 2013 which would eventually narrow down the gap between state and the citizens.<\/p>\n
