The U.S. Ambassador’s Fund funded project brought forward and empowered Indigenous Community Conserved Areas (ICCAs) as means for Wildlife Conservation in Chitral. Under this project, LEAD Pakistan hosted a one-day workshop titled “Regional Workshop on ICCAs”, on May 21, 2015 in close collaboration with the Wildlife Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Experts from Iran and Nepal participated in the workshop along with eminent researchers and policy practitioners from all over Pakistan.

Subsequently, LEAD worked to identify ICCAs, conducted detailed mapping of 06 ICCAs, developed management plans of 02 ICCAs, created an ICCA Network and drafted a Charter of Demands for recognition of ICCAs at the policy and planning level.
